Medcenter Container Terminal is Europe's newest and biggest tranship hub, located in the heart of the Mediterranean on the west coast of Calabria, Italy. Vessels transiting the Mediterranean from the Suez Canal to Gibraltar need only deviate 42 nautical miles to call at the port of Gioia Tauro. The quay covers 3,145 metres and a total surface area of 124 hectares. The main handling equipment consists of 8 quay side gantry cranes, 24 straddle carriers and 2 rail mounted gantry cranes. MCT provides feeder schedules between strategic Mediterranean ports, and also direct links to the Italian highways & railway network. All operations at the terminal are monitored by the most sophisticated computerized systems to guartantee the fastest despatch of vessels and highest quality customer service.
